FAQ: Running the bot in a virtual machine
By Phenom
I've made this faq to help people get setup.
But first, why run the bot in a virtual machine? Well if you want to use your computer for other things while your bot runs, then you need to run it in a virtual machine (VM). You can even have multiple VMs running at the same time so that you can multibot on Zynga. You can play in multiple servers at the same time on Zynga so long as each of your bots are in a separate server.
Here are the steps to get the bot running in a virtual machine.
1. Choose a virtual machine.
The bot has been tested in Parallels, Virtual Box, VM Player, and VM Workstation. If configured properly, the bot will work in all of these. I prefer VM Player and Virtual Box.
2. Install XP in the virtual machine.
Tiny XP works best with the bot. I have had problems with other versions of XP.
3. Change the virtual machine settings.
The bot will not work properly unless the default settings are changed. These are the changes that have to be made.
a. Turn on 2d and 3d acceleration. If you don't turn these on you will get weird problems like the bot not being able to detect that you are sitting at a table.
b. Increase the memory allocated to the OS to 1024MB. The bot will malfunction if not enough memory is allocated.
c. Change CPU cores from one to two. The bot might still work with only one, but you might time out at the fast tables.
4. Make changes to the OS in the VM.
Configure XP so that it does not use a page file. If the OS resorts to using a page file, then this is enough to slow down your system to the point where the bot times out.
If you follow all these steps, then you should have no problems running the bot in a virtual machine.
